The State Universities and Colleges in Western Visayas once again gathered at the Province of Antique as University of Antique hosts the 34th Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights (RSRDH) from October 29-30, 2024 at the Main Campus in Sibalom.

The symposium highlights contests in different divisions such as Natural/Biological Research Category, Social Science/Socio-Economic Research Category, Developmental/ Technological Research Category, and Poster Category.

University of the Philippines – Visayas’ (UPV) poster titled “Fungi in Philippine Aquatic Ecosystems” was named as the champion in the Poster Category, the same title also won the Natural/Biological Research Category. On the other hand, the “Potency and Economic Feasibility of Garlic-Derived Phytomedicines in Controlling Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Ascaridia galli Infestation for Sustainable Native Chicken Production1” of Central Philippine University (CPU) and and “Enhancement and Pilot Testing of a Multi-Layer Fish Dryer with Biomass Furnace” of Capiz State University (CAPSU) won the Social Science/Socio-Economic Research Category and Developmental/ Technological Research Category respectively.

The conference was the fruit of the collaboration between Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development, Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium, and University of Antique.
