With the enactment of Republic Act No. 4166 on August 4, 1964, the same law that cemented the change of the country’s independence to June 12, the β€œPhilippine Republic Day” was formally declared and observed every July 4 – marking the nation’s formal independence from American rule.

Notably, today marks 79 years since the late U.S. President Harry S. Truman issued Proclamation 2695, recognizing the Philippines as a sovereign nation.

May we, as one Filipino nation, continue to honor and cherish these pivotal moments in our history that have shaped our resilience and freedom – the very essence of our heroes’ sacrifices.
