To address the growing need for digital proficiency within the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the College of Computer Studies (CCS) through the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT) faculty and students conducted a basic computer skills training and Office Productivity Development aligned to TESDA Computer System Servicing NCII to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from BJMP San Jose District as part of their CLIP-BJMP (Computer Literacy and Internet Project for BJMP) Project last October 14, 2024.

Aside from aiding to the PDLs’ rehabilitation and reintegration to the society through computer-based educational programs and vocational training, the initiative also aims to streamline the processes within the jail system to ensure that it aligns with the national digital transformation strategies.

According to Prof. Kenrick Agustin S. Secugal, MIT, Extension Project Leader, their project is still part of the Holistic Opportunities and People’s Empowerment (HOPE) at BJMP San Jose, that provides various trainings and opportunities, including the chance to earn a degree through UA’s ladderized education program.
