School pageant revivifies hUgyAw spirit

Battered by storm, restricted by the pandemic, yet kasUbAys stood tall in revivifying the true essence of hUgyAw during the Search for Mr. and Ms. University of Antique (UA) 2022 held at Paghi-UsA Hall, November 10.

Colourful banners and deafening cheers filled the hall as 26 contenders, imbued with beauty and wit, from nine different colleges and four external campuses of the University fought for the right to reign and clinch the main titles.

College of Criminal Justice Education’s (CCJE) bet, April Grace M. Pactao-in, and Erl A. Macavinta from the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) were named Mr. and Ms. UA 2022. On the other hand, Jeril G. Gayomali from College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) and Airene Joy L. Sabay from College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) clinched the Mr. and Ms. hUgyAw 2022 titles.

This year’s pageant included bamboo planting and pottery making in their preliminary activities, a reminder that kasUbAys are as resilient as bamboo and, like pots, are moulded by strong hands./IAP
