Anchored to the celebration of ASEAN Month 2025, the University of Antique International Affairs Unit and Gender and Development Unit are hosting the 2025 ASEAN Webinar today, August 20, through Zoom.

With the theme “IZN in Transformative Action: Synergizing Leadership, Collaboration, and Lifelong Learning for Sustainable and Globally Responsive Higher Education in ASEAN,” this aims to promote inclusive and equitable practices in internationalization and leadership as well as strengthen the academe’s linkages and raise awareness and advocate for gender equality, by highlighting the critical roles and accomplishments of women in academia.

The morning session included talks about various topics including “Bridging the Gap: How Strong Collaboration and Network Drive Transformative Innovation in Philippine HEIs and LUCs” with Dr. Michelle Aguilar-Ong, Former College President, Mabalacat City College, and “Women as Resilient Community Builders in ASEAN Context” with Dr. Jaein Kim, CEO of Golden Asia Group and Founder of Askara Jayasri Indonesia Foundation.

Dr. Ayessa Marie N. Velasquez, Internationalization Officer of Otawa Sports Academy and Member of CHED-INRC, and Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, Director IV, CHED Regional Office I, will be discussing this afternoon the “The Adult Learners as a Catalyst for Innovation in Higher Education” and “Breaking Barriers: Women’s Pathways to Leadership in Global Higher Education” respectively.

The ASEAN Webinar 2025 is anchored to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically the SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 5- Gender Equality, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
