The HOPE in Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) continues as the University of Antique, through the College of Computer Studies (CCS), conducts a Technical Orientation and Training on STARBOOK, a digital library developed by Department of Science and Technology (DOST), for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at BJMP San Jose District, May 3, 2025.

Prof. John Jowil D. Orquia, Program Head of BS Computer Science Program, served as lecturer during the training that aimed to ensure that the PDLs and BJMP staff can effectively and independently use the STARBOOK for research study and other educational activities, maximizing the platform’s benefits to create a self-sustaining and impactful learning environment.

The training also includes hands-on demonstration where CCS faculty and students assisted the PDLs to set up their account and navigate the platform where they can search contents, bookmark, and access the various multimedia materials provided.

The integration and utilization of STARBOOKs supports the broader goal of the College Education Behind Bars (CEBB) Program to offer meaningful educational opportunities and promote lifelong learning especially in challenging circumstances.
