
The University of Antique Centralized Analytical Testing Laboratory (CATL) Personnel underwent a Basic Operation and Maintenance Training of Agilent 4210 Microwave Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (MP-AES) at Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) Training Room and MP-AES Rm of CATL, University of Antique, on October 8-10, 2024.
The MP-AES equipment that UA holds is one of the two MP-AES equipment in Panay, the first one is located at the DOST Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) in Iloilo City.
According to CATL personnel, the MP-AES is an addition to the future laboratory services for elemental analysis that is capable of sub-ppb levels and can cater to a wide range of samples and studies. Clients within and outside the university can avail of this powerful chemical analysis soon to augment their research pursuits.
Mr. Neil James Cagumbay, Application Specialist of Molave Trading, Inc., conducted series of lectures on Introduction to Atomic Spectroscopy, basic parts of equipment, and MP Expert Software, test run using Conventional Mode; followed by hands-on training for various metals content and using Hydride Generation Mode for elements such as Arsenic and Selenium with groundwater sample, to CATL personnel: Asst. Prof. Jessebel Gadot (Laboratory Officer), Ms. Jessa Mae Lam-an, Ms. Jemaica Labus, Ms. Danica Marie Aposaga, Ms. Valerie Joy Naviamos, and Mr. Janell Egonio.
