In a significant move toward internationalization, the University of Antique (UA) partners with the British Council Philippines to conduct the APTIS English Proficiency Test among selected faculty, staff, and students today, May 28, 2025.

APTIS, developed by the British Council, is an innovative and flexible English assessment tool designed to evaluate core language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Its deployment at UA positions the university at the forefront of modern, evidence-based language assessment in the region.

Administering this test is part of UA’s broader goal to align its English language benchmarks with international standards and to better understand how the university can support its community in strengthening communication skills.

The results of the APTIS test will guide the university in enhancing its English language programs and identifying areas where faculty and students may benefit from additional support. It also contributes to the university’s long-term goals under the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) outcomes-based education framework, and supports ASEAN integration, where effective communication across borders is increasingly essential.

Through this partnership, the University of Antique takes a meaningful step in bridging local education with global standards—empowering Antiqueños with tools they need to succeed in today’s interconnected world.
