
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) partners with the academe and other government agencies for the 2025 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month kick-off through its Cybersinag initiative at University of Antique Paghi-UsA Hall, today, October 1, 2025.
Centered around the theme “Cyber Guardians: Empowering Today’s Defenders, Securing Tomorrow’s Digital Nation,” series of talks regarding Data Privacy, Cybercrime, Online Scams, and DICT Cybersecurity Campaigns and Initiatives were discussed by resource speakers including Mr. Juancho F. Jamile, HR III and Data Privacy Officer of UA, PLT Art Velasquez, Chief of Operations and Assistant Chief, Digital Forensics Section Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6, Mr. Fourth C. Quanico, Information Technology Officer, NBI Antique District Office, and Mr. Kent Armel P. Jaragbas, Planning Assistant, DICT Antique Cybersecurity PNPKI Unit.
DICT VI Regional Director, Engr. Reynaldo T. Sy., on his message emphasized the importance of awareness, developing cyber hygiene, and practicing responsible online behavior especially in the growing risks of cyber-attacks that victimize not only organizations but also individuals, families, and small businesses.
Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, also recognized the role of each individual, no matter how small their role may seem, as part of the bigger defense that secures the future.
“May we launch a stronger commitment to stand together in building safer institutions, more resilient communities, and a secure (and) empowered digital nation for the present generation and the generation to come,” Dr. Crespo added.
Dr. Sammy Militante, Associate Member, National Research Council of the Philippines, Pltcol Ma. Leah D. Barrios, Chief Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit, Antique Police Provincial Office, Juan Ma. Damaso Autajay, Special Investigator IV and Executive Officer, NBI, together with Dr. Crespo and the resource speakers also served as panelists for the panel discussions.
Present during the kick-off are the representatives from the Office of Congressman AA Legarda, Office of Governor Paolo Javier, students, and representatives from various government agencies in the province.
