
University of Antique through College of Maritime Studies (CMS) joins the Maritime Education, Training, (MET) and Workshop 2025 organized by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in close collaboration with the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), at Parklane Hotel, Cebu City, last November 20 – 21, 2025.
CMS Dean, Capt. Luis V. Garfin III, MSMM, served as Resource Speaker and shared his experiences and reflections on the 2024 Capacity Building Program for MET Institutions in Asia and Latin America.
CMS Faculty, Prof. Shecky Mae Villavert, and Prof. Esperanza Nolasco, together with Mrs. Jocy Flor Teologo, University Registrar, also represented the academe in the event that gathered global maritime leaders, educators, and industry stakeholders in a landmark event aimed at elevating the quality and competitiveness of maritime education in the Philippines.
The collaboration between MARINA and IAMU highlighted their mutual mission to Philippine MET remains globally aligned, technologically innovative, and fully compliant with international maritime standards as they thrive to advance maritime training and foster a future-ready generation of seafarers through the said workshop.
