Demonstrating University of Antique’s commitment to research and academic engagement, Associate Professor Marvin C. Casalan, faculty member from the College of Arts and Sciences and the Director of the Instructional Materials Development Unit (IMDU), presented his research paper at the 11th International Conference on ELT in China, attended by language scholars and educators from across the globe in Xi’an, China, on May 28-31, 2026.

His paper “The Rhetoric of Law Enforcement: Move Structure and Linguistic Features of Police Reports” contributed to international scholarly discussions on discourse and language use in law enforcement communication, highlighting the role of linguistic research in understanding professional and institutional texts.

The conference was organized by the Asian Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (AsiaTEFL) and hosted by the China English Language Education Association and the School of Foreign Studies of Xi’an Jiaotong University.
