The Laboratory Management Unit (LMU), in collaboration with the Centralized Analytical and Testing Laboratory (CATL), conducted a three-day Training on Chemometrics, Phytochemical Analysis, and Spectroscopy on September 21β23, 2026, at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Conference Room and CATL.
The training aimed to equip faculty members in the Science Area and laboratory staff with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in UV-Vis spectrophotometry, covering the analytical process from fundamental concepts to practical applications.
Through lectures, discussions, and practical application, participants were trained in standard methods of sample preparation and the conduct of phytochemical assays (Total Phenolic Content and Antioxidant Activity) in samples, as well as in reagent preparation and formulation of standard solutions, blanks, serial dilutions, and the proper application of laboratory safety protocols.
The activity further strengthened the participantsβ competencies in interpreting and analyzing reliable analytical data through chemometrics. These skills are expected to enhance their laboratory practices and support the effective integration of analytical techniques and data interpretation into classroom instruction.
