Overview
By the authority to operate under the Board of Trustees Resolution No. 91 series of 1999, the Polytechnic College of Antique (PSCA) opened enrolment in the courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Architecture for school year 2000-2001. The course was offered through the initiative of Engr. Magno Servano, Jr. with only 19 enrollees. The BSECE program then was under the College of Technology. It also opened the door for Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering but was then in the College of Computer Studies.
During the school year 2003-2004, with resolution No. 250, Series of 2003, another course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was offered leading to the creation of the College of Engineering. The following year, with resolution No. 318, Series of 2004, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering was added, creating the College of Engineering and Architecture with Ar. Ma. Bella C. Magdaug as its first Dean up to year 2013. Engr. Mark Alester A. Lazo was designated as the Dean of the College from 2013-2018. Followed by Engr. Cheryl P. Salvan from 2018-2020. Currently, Dr. Christine C. Vegafria is the Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture.
In school year 2009-2010, under Resolution No. 05, series of 2009, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering was added to its curricular offerings as it continuously pursue its vision and mission to produce competent engineers and architects in the service of the Antiquenos, the Filipino nation, and the global community.
In 2019, Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and University (AACCUP) recommended that the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering will be transferred from the College of Computer Studies to the College of Engineering and Architecture, thus BSCpE is now one of leading CEA Programs.

Admission and Retention Policies
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Admission Policy (University Code, Chap.3, Art. 9)
Section 1. No qualified student shall be denied admission to UA by reason of age, sex, nationality, religious belief, or political affiliations; however, a student with special needs will only be admitted provided the University has the capability to cater to his/her needs.
Section 2. Every applicant for admission to the University degree programs must meet the requirements for admission prescribed by the University and its academic unit concerned including passing entrance examination required by the University.
Section 3. Every student seeking admission, shall sign the “Pledge of Good Conduct”. Refusal to take the pledge or violation of its terms shall be sufficient cause for denial of admission.
Section 4. Every applicant for admission shall undergo a thorough health examination as prescribed by each college. No person shall be admitted who is found to be suffering from dangerous, communicable, contagious or infectious disease or who is physically unfit as determined by the accredited medical officer.
Admission Requirements for the College of Engineering and Architecture
- Applicants seeking admission to the College of Engineering and Architecture must meet the cut-off score of 30.
- Applicants must have an average grade of 85% and above.
- Passed the prequalifying exam specific for the College for those who meet the cut off score of CEA in the University Entrance exam. Students will be ranked according to the capacity of the program for First year, Shifters and Transferees.
- Passed the interview and evaluation by the Chairperson of the Program. 5. Qualified applicants must comply with all the following requirements:
New Students:
- Original and photocopy of Form 138 or High School Report Card
- Original and photocopy of Certificate of Good Moral Character
- Original and photocopy of Medical Certificate
- Three (3) long white folder
- Authenticated Copy of Birth Certificate (2 pcs)
- Original and photocopy of the Entrance Examination result.
Transferees:
- Original and photocopy of Certificate of Honorable Dismissal
- Original and photocopy of Medical Certificate
- Authenticated copy of Birth Certificate
- Transcript of Records for evaluation purposes (original & 1 photocopy)
- Three (3) long white folder
- Original and photocopy of the Entrance Examination result. g. Updated Curriculum Checklist w/ grades
Old Students/Quitters:
- Clearance of the last/previous semester
- Updated Curriculum Checklist w/ grades
- Students from foreign countries shall be required to meet the entrance requirements prescribed; provided, that their previous training was obtained in an institution of recognized standing.
- A residency of at least 2 years in the College of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Antique is required.
Retention Policy of the College of Engineering and Architecture
A. A student who did not meet academic requirements will not be promoted to higher subject or next higher level due to failing grades or insufficient educational progress in advance.
- Initial Probation A student who has one (1) failed grade in any subject or has two (2) unofficially dropped subjects will be in initial probation. This status will be lifted if in the next semester all subjects are passed.
- Final Probation A student who has two (2) failed grades in the enrolled subjects or has three (3) unofficially dropped subjects will be in final probation. This status will be lifted to the initial probation if in the next semester all subjects are passed.
- For Shifting Status A student who has three (3) failed grades in the enrolled subjects or has four (4) unofficially dropped subjects will be advised for shifting in any program outside the College in the University.
B. INC (Incomplete) Grades
There is a one (1) year period to comply the INC grades, however, a student will not be enrolled to the higher subject unless the pre requisite subject (INC) is complied. Furthermore, the Instructor may give official advice informing the enrolment committee that the student passed his/her subject in order to proceed to the next subject.
C. For Incoming Second (2nd) year students
- Qualifying exam will be given to the qualified incoming 2nd year students.
- Students should pass the cut-off score of 50% to be able to proceed to the 2nd year status.
- To those who did not meet the cut off score set forth by the committee on Qualifying Exam will be advised for shifting.
