Capacitating its analysts and laboratory heads, the University of Antique through the Centralized Analytical Testing Laboratory (CATL) sent two of its key personnel, CATL Officer Mrs. Jessebel V. Gadot and Science Research Analyst Ms. Valerie Joy T. Naviamos to undergo intensive training on the Agilent 4210 Microwave Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectrophotometer (MP-AES) at Agilent Technologies in Singapore last September 09-11, 2025.

This training provided the CATL’s technical staff with comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the MP-AES equipment, valued at almost PHP 4.5M. The participants also learned how to use the software’s more advanced features, post-process data, and generate reports.

While at the training, the university representatives also had the opportunity to interact and collaborate with other end-users from DOST Region V and EMB Region II.

Furthermore, through the series of training and acquiring of necessary permits and licenses for elemental analysis, the CATL will be able to serve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by accepting various samples for testing, including water, wastewater, food, plants, and other biological specimens.

Currently, the university laboratory only accommodates testing and analyses for research purposes.
