Representatives from the three campuses of UA —Sibalom, Hamtic, and Tario Lim Memorial Campus, convened to be equipped with knowledge, skills, and strategies in providing Psychological First Aid (PFA) as the Guidance Unit conducts a PFA Training at Busalian Hall today, April 25 until 26, 2024.

Dr. Panganiban, served as the Trainer and discussed topics that would enable participants to grasp the concepts and framework of psychological first aid, and ethical do’s and don’ts in providing PFA. On her message she mentioned that the art of listening is for everyone and one do not need to be a Guidance counselor to listen.

“It’s always a choice — do you want to focus on the problem, or do you want to be part of the solution?… and this is again one skill that we will be teaching you through PFA. We will be attentive listeners and we will be more mindful and sensitive in order for us to be more effective to other people, ” she further stated.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., University President, on his message stated that such training is important as someone we know, a family or friend, might need psychological interventions.

A learning session on self-care and stress management was also discussed during the training to prepare the participants as they commit themselves to becoming members of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Team of UA./IU
