Far Eastern University (FEU) partners with University of Antique (UA) in the cascading of National Symposium on Innovations in Teaching and Learning on Industry 4.0 and Smart Nation (Visayas Leg), which gathered 22 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from the Visayas Region, at UA Paghi-usa Hall, April 25, 2024.

Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, Officer-in-charge, Office of the Deputy Executive Director and Director for International Affairs Services, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), showed her support to the activity and expressed her hope that the participants will continue their efforts in reaching their goals as dynamic agents of change and innovation.

“Continue to be inspired; continue to strive; continue to dream and work more for a greater and better Philippine Higher Education Institution (that is) ready to take the opportunities and challenges in the rise of Industry 4.0 and the smart nation,” Atty. Milla further stated.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, welcomed the participants to Antique and extended his thanks to CHED and FEU for the initiative to gather the different HEIs and share how to improve and align their efforts to make sure that every HEI’s aim to develop students to be industry-ready will be realized.

Dr. Hyun Kyung Lee, International Professor, FEU, and Dr. Romualdo Mabuan, Department Chair, FEU, served as Keynote Speakers and discussed the topics: on Waking Up to Smarter Teaching and Learning: Moving Beyond Innovative Dreams, and Transforming Education for the SMART Future: Integrating Industry 4.0 and SMART Nation Concepts into Teaching and Learning, respectively.

The program also featured Plenary Sessions where four studies anchored on Industry 4.0 and Smart Nation were presented by the Champions.

Aside from the different campuses of UA, other HEIs present were the Aklan Catholic College University, Aklan State University, Capiz State University, Central Philippine University, Central Philippines State University, Colegio de San Jose, Inc., Guimaras State University, Iloilo City Community College, Iloilo Doctors’ College, Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (Bacolod), Inc., Negros Oriental State University, Northern Iloilo State University, Northwestern Visayan Colleges, Philippine Normal University Visayas, St. Anthony’s College – Antique, St. Paul’s University Iloilo, St. Therese – MTC Colleges, STI West Negros University, University of St. La Salle, West Visayas State University, and Iloilo Science and Technology University.

The partnership was made possible through Dr. Driselle P. Pajuyo, Director of the International Relations Office of FEU, Prof. Jennelyn Omadio, Director of International Affairs of UA, and Dr. Sammy Militante, Director for Statistical and Knowledge Management Unit of UA, and one of the Champions of this initiative.
