International Speaker Dr. Pratik Rajan Mungekar, Director for Research, Innovation, and Internationalization and a renowned Scientist, Professor, and Author from Mumbai, India graced the University of Antique for the second leg of “Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Futures: A Seminar Series on the Role of Computing in Global Development” today, September 22, 2025, at the Busalian Hall.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Catherine C. Viesca, VP for Academic Affairs, stated that technology alone is not the answer and leadership is what ensures inclusivity, safeguards human dignity and bridges the digital divide so that no one is left behind.

Dr. John C. Amar, Dean of the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS), in his speech, also highlighted the importance of technological innovation saying, “For our students, it is imperative that you must be technologically inclined and go out from the digital native community and soar high as new leaders who transform learnings for positive and dynamic technological change.”

Furthermore, Dr. Mungekar’s presentation focused on leadership in the digital era and linking leadership and technology to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Today we will try to see the potential of technology with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI)…We will explore how you can leverage Artificial Intelligence particularly the ChatGPT into academic research paper writing”, he stated.

The in-person activity, an extension of the webinar conducted last September 8, 2025, was made possible through the CCIS and the International Affairs Unit where it featured a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), thus, opening doors for more future collaborations.
