
To raise awareness about Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB), the University of Antique Health Unit conducts a symposium – “TB Talks: Empowering Students Through Awareness” at Tiripunan Hall today, October 10, 2025.
The event was also graced by experts who served as resource persons like Dr. Felli Claire Gibraltar-Clavel, Medical Specialist in Pulmonary Medicine who discussed the causes, treatment, and management of Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB), including proper dosing and handling drug reactions. Mr. Don Albert N. Tordesillas, RN, MPA, Nurse II – Sibalom Municipal Health Office (MHO), shared insights on TB preventive treatment and the iDOTS program.
The speakers emphasized that TB is curable with proper medication and healthy habits such as avoiding alcohol and smoking as well as highlighted the importance of awareness and prevention in building a TB-free and health-conscious community.
The event was attended by the students from College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and College of Industrial Technology (CIT).
