Recognizing the pillars of University of Antique, the academe honored its former Presidents: Dr. Godofredo E. Gallega, Dr. Benny A. Palma, and Dr. Victor E. Navarra, on Pagpadungug kag Pagpasalamat, a Testimonial Luncheon, at Zuri Hotel, Iloilo City, March 19.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., the current President of UA, expressed his joy and gratitude that such an activity finally happened, not just as part of the 70th year or the Platinum Anniversary of UA which is celebrated this year, but also to show heartfelt appreciation for their contributions.

“I am truly happy because ang mga harigi ka pinalangga naton nga University of Antique nagtiripon kaja nga aga, imaw ka anda pamilya, imaw kang aton mga retirees, imaw ka mga present employee ka University of Antique,” he stated.

Plaques and tokens were given to the former Presidents as retirees and employees close to them walked back the memory lane and shared both tear-jerking and funny testimonies during their years at UA, followed by the Presidents’ responses.

Dr. Godofredo E. Gallega served as President of Polytechnic State College of Antique (PSCA) for 26 years; Dr. Benny A. Palma filled the void of leadership in PSCA when he served as OIC President for five months; and Dr. Victor E. Navarra, the first President of UA served the University for almost 12 years.

Dr. Luis M. Sorolla, Jr., Former President of West Visayas State University (WVSU) and Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (now Iloilo Science Technology University), Dr. Regelio T. Artajo, Former President of Guimaras State College (now Guimaras State University) graced the program while RD Rowen R. Gelonga, Regional Director of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office VI shared his recorded message for the Presidents.
