University of Antique alumnus and Representative of CoopNatcco Partylist to the 19th Congress, Rep. Felimon Espares, pays it forward to Antiqueños as he partnered with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for the distribution of CHED Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) Grant, at eHub today, May 9, 2024.

Twenty-seven (27) Antiqueño Grantees from University of Antique and other varying Higher Education Institution (HEIs) such as St. Anthony’s College (SAC), Central Philippine University (CPU), University of Iloilo (UI), University of San Agustin (USA), and Hercor College in Capiz, received the educational assistance through the help of the Representative who is a product of UA College of Teacher Education.

Rep. Espares on his message stated that the distribution of the SMART Grant symbolizes the collective commitment for the dreams and aspirations of not just the students but also their parents. He also reaffirmed his commitment to work harder to give more opportunities to the students.

“Our investment in education goes beyond the monetary value. It is an investment in the future leaders, educators, and changemakers of our society. By empowering you, you can pursue your academic goals,” he further stated.

The Php 25, 000 worth of grant is a one-time assistance that aims to help the students on their educational expenses and cost of living allowance especially after the pandemic.
Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, reiterated the message of CHED Chair J. Prospero De Vera III that with the support from the Commission, the government, and the Congress, the students have no reason to not finish their degree.

The president ended his speech with a message to the grantees saying, “You study well, kun sa diin man kamo nga eskwelahan tandan nyo nga it’s not the school that makes a man but it’s the man who makes himself.”

Dr. Arnold John P. Anceno, CHED Education Supervisor II and Hon. Edgar Denosta, Vice Governor of the Province of Antique were also present during the distribution.
