
The University of Antique and the Haribon Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources, Inc., officially strengthened their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing held today, February 6, 2026, at the UA President’s Office.
The Haribon Foundation is the Philippines’ first and environmental conservation organization with various projects and initiatives including the conservation of biodiversity and threatened species of Panay.
The signing of MOU signifies the two institutions’ commitment to cooperation and collaboration in advancing conservation strategies in key areas such as the Central Panay Mountain Ranges (CPMR), Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NPPNP), and Sibalom-Tipuluan River Watershed, specifically in Antique and Aklan, through scientific and social research, inclusive protected area governance, watershed management strategies, citizen science and citizen-based ecosystem monitoring, Nature-based Solutions (NbS) programs, sustainable livelihood programs, and Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (CEPA).
Representing the University were Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., University President; Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation; and Dr. Wilfredo Muhat, Director of the Extension Unit. The Haribon Foundation delegation was led by Noel A. Resurreccion, Manager for Site Conservation and Governance, together with Josiah David G. Quimpo, Manager of the Conservation Research Department, Ken Penaflor, Jorgia Dagohoy, Sharmaine Blas, Jessica Carlos, and Romnick Taladro.
