Members of the Biodiversity-Friendly Enterprise (BDFE), particularly the Napaan Bamboo and Native Crafts Association, visited the University of Antique (UA) today, September 10, 2026, for a benchmarking activity as part of the BDFE Enhancement Activity.

Led by For. Nonilon S. Molina, MPA, NPPNP PASu, the delegates learned about the production of engineered bamboo planks from Engr. Nestor Rocha Jr., who served as resource speaker. The discussion also covered production strategies, product design and improvement, proper treatment and curing processes, and the use of relevant machinery and equipment.

The benchmarking activity included a site visit and viewing of finished products, providing the participants an opportunity to assess the current status and level of development of their PO enterprise and to observe and potentially adopt operational and technical best practices implemented by the academe.

Dr. Marie Ann J. Raymaro, Executive Director for Resource Management, personally welcomed the delegates from the BDFE which is composed of various people’s organizations located within the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park (NPPNP). It serves as a strategic and innovative approach to addressing the complex interplay between biodiversity conservation and socio-economic development by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities anchored on the responsible use of natural resources.
