UA spearheads Deployment and Training on Proper Usage of Farm Equipment to AUFA

Anchored to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 2 which is to end hunger through supporting small-scale farmers, University of Antique through the Extension Services Unit spearheads the Deployment and Training on Proper Usage of Farm Equipment at Brgy. Alangan, Sibalom, Antique, May 22.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., University President, together with Engr. Eleazar Moscoso, Director of Department of Science and Technology – Provincial Science and Technology Office Antique (DOST-PTSO), spearheaded the deployment of one unit of tractor to the Alangan United Farmer’s Association (AUFA) who were later trained on the proper use of the farm equipment.

According to Dr. Crespo, DOST and the University’s partner beneficiaries help UA as it comes closer in realizing its mandate that is, Transforming Lives and Building Communities.

“We hope that through this project, the socio-economic condition of not only the members of AUFA, but also the residents of Alangan and hopefully of Sibalom, will be elevated,” he further stated.

The activity also helps a lot the academe as it acts as a strategic partner in developing both private and public organizations to become fully automated and productive.

Engr. Moscoso, on the other hand, expressed that the farm equipment will help the farmers saying, “We hope that through the tractor, rice production of the members of the Association will further improve…”

Also present on the said event are Prof. Marie Anne Raymaro, Extension Services Unit Head, Prof. John Jowil Orquia, Extension Program Leader, Brgy. Captain Nilo Odiada, Members of DOST-PTSO, and Members of AUFA headed by their President, Mercy M. Galero. /IAP
