Members of the Regional Selection Committee for the 25th Gawad KALASAG Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance conducted a field validation visit at the University of Antique Main Campus today, July 1, 2025.

Dr. Pablo S. Crespo Jr., UA President, presented the policies, plans, trainings and capacity, responses, researches, and best practices of the University when it comes to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance.

Led by Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Regional Director Raul Fernandez, the team is composed of Dr. Arnold John Anceno, Education Supervisor II, Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Engr. Gino Fernandez of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Engr. John Mark Latoza, Science Research Specialist II, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), PLTCOL Mark Cordero of the Police Regional Office VI (PRO VI), Ms. Elijshah Dalipe, Information Officer I, Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Rey Gozon, Chief DRRM Division, and Hyacinth Menicable, Secretariat. The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office headed by Mr. Broderick Train also graced the program with their presence.

UA is the lone HEI in the Region to pass the said evaluation and garnered the Gawad KALASAG Special Awards Best Higher Education Institution Category last year.
