Program heads from various departments, deans, and research coordinators underwent a training on Research Advising and Paneling with Dr. Jelyn O. Alentajan, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, today June 17, 2026, at Busalian Hall.

The activity which is part of the Research Capability Enhancement Series 2026, focused on strengthening ethical standards and quality assurance in research, and to enhance the competencies of academic leaders in research supervision, evaluation, and quality assurance.

During the session, Dr. Alentajan emphasized the vital role of research advisers in guiding student researchers, stating, “Your first role is to provide direction.” She highlighted the importance of effective mentorship in ensuring that research projects are conducted responsibly and meet academic standards.

She also discussed the responsibilities of panelists during research defenses, stressing that research manuscripts should be provided to panel members two to three days before the scheduled defense to allow adequate review.

The enhancement series will continue until June 18 with activities such as NRCP Tapping and Reaching Academic Institutions (TRAIN) for Membership, and 2nd Quarter In-House Review and Evaluation of Completed Research Projects. |IU-MAC Interns
